Update: Thursday, 1:32 p.m. --  Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has rejected a request by the  Redford Township Police to charge Treasurer Andy Dillon with domestic assault of his ex-wife related to an incident last month, the Detroit News reports.

“After a thorough review of the evidence, it has been determined that there is insufficient evidence to file criminal charges,” Worthy’s office said in a statement Thursday. “The warrant request has been denied.”

From earlier today:

State Treasurer Andy Dillon’s life has become one ongoing soap opera that has provided plenty fodder for the press.

The latest: Chad Livengood of The Detroit News reports that his secretary is suing his ex-wife Carol Owens-Dillon for defamation. On July 7, on Facebook, Dillon's ex-wife claimed his secretary was having an affair with him.

Secretary Amy U. Hichez filed a lawsuit Wednesday in  Wayne County Circuit Court, denying the allegation in a move that is likely to trigger more gossip and headlines.

The Dillons, who were officially divorced in July, have been in the news before over their highly flammable relationship. The wife recently accused Dillon of assaulting her at their Redford Township home, and authorities are trying to determine whether to file charges.

Earlier this year, reports surfaced that Dillon's wife had taken out a restraining order on Detroit News reporter Leonard Fleming, who she claimed had threatened to kill her with a baseball bat. Their relationship was never made clear in court papers, but there was a sexual reference in the court papers.
