As expected, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy formally endorsed Benny Napoleon of mayor of Detroit this afternoon. She was joined by leaders of several police unions.
Detroit Free Press: Worthy said she endorsed Napoleon’s five-point plan for cutting crime by as much as 50% during his first term as mayor, saying it aligns with the priorities she’s fought for as prosecutor for a decade. Along with Worthy, four unions representing law enforcement officers in Detroit and Wayne County endorsed Napoleon: the Detroit Police Officers Association; the Detroit Police Lieutenant and Sergeants Association; the Wayne County Police Lieutenant, Sergeants and Corporals Association; and the Wayne County Deputy Sheriffs’ Association.
The Detroit Forward SuperPAC, which is (ahem) not affiliated with the Napoleon campaign but supports his candidacy, also released a long-form ad online today that, well, you'd think he was running for mayor of Tehran.
"We must have forgot," the ad's voiceover tells us, "that God's people require a spiritual leader."
Apparently that spiritual leader for God's people is Benny Napoleon. Does that mean atheists are supposed to vote for Mike Duggan?
