Boston Globe's Dan Shaughnessy Would Vacation In Detroit

October 17, 2013, 9:35 AM

Boston Globe sports columnist Dan Shaughnessy has long defended Detroit when national media colleagues take shots at our city. During the run-up to Super Bowl XL, Shaughnessy praised Detroit as a first-rate host city for football's biggest game. He compared it favorably to the previous Super Bowl host city, Jacksonville, which he more or less called a third-rate hick town.

During game four of the American League Championship Series, Shaughnessy took to Twitter to again praise Detroit.

"Downtown Detroit underrated," tweeted the "Curse of the Bambino" author. "Seriously. Friendly folks, great services, great ballpark. I would vacation here."

When questioned if he was serious, Shaughnessy replied: "No. Love this place."

He's basically like a human "I'm a Believer" ad, except he isn't lame.
