The perils of driving a bus in Detroit? Let us count the ways.

The latest: WWJ reports that someone standing outside a bus threw a bucket of bleach in the face of a DDOT bus driver over the weekend on Woodward near the old state fairgrounds on 8 Mile Road.  WWJ reports that police think the attack was premeditated.

The driver was transported to the hospital where his condition was not yet known.

The attack comes two weeks after bus drivers staged a sickout to protest dangerous conditions.

WWJ reports that attacks in the past have included beatings and stabbings. Some drivers have even had urine thrown at them.

Detroit Police Chief James Craig has vowed to step up protection for drivers.  -- Allan Lengel
