Gov. Rick Snyder got everything but the cheerleading outfit on when he appeared Friday morning on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" to talk about Detroit.

Co-host Joe Scarborough started out by saying: "What's happening in downtown Detroit is actually exciting."

Snyder agreed.

"It’s very exciting and that’s one of the messages I hope people recognize when they hear about bankruptcy, that there are two takeaways I really ask people to think about.

"First of all the bankruptcy is a solution, it's not a new problem... And the second piece is... Detroit’s comebacks has already been going on for several years. There’s been $12 billion of private investment... going into the city."

"Twelve thousand jobs have moved in the city. In terms of young people, there’s 98 percent occupancy in midtown and downtown Detroit. Young people can’t find housing. And hese are young professionals moving into the city. So there’s a lot of great things going on. That happened in spite of the municipal government having these issues. We are going to turn the situation around and have the city providing good services. It's going to be a value place in the globe."

Scarborough told the governor MSNBC planned to come back to Detroit, and then went on to apologize for rooting for the Red Sox "for about a week or so."

"The Tigers are amazing," Scarborough said. "Their pitching, amazing. I would not want to be Scherzer in the off season. I'd be an angry angry man."
