Potbelly, the Chicago-based chain, will open next Tuesday at 777 Woodward, just south of Michigan  Avenue, adding another chain restaurant to downtown Detroit landscape.

The sandwich will goes up against  other chains already in operation downtown:  Subway and Jimmy Johns. Quiznos on Griswold recently closed.

For Potbelly, it's the second outlet downtown.  The other one is in the RenCen.

Other chains have shown interest in the downtown market. Bagger Dave's, near Greektown, is expected to open soon, next to  Buffalo Wild Wings, which opened earlier this year. -- A.L.
