Barcelona, Brooklyn, Berlin, Detroit: NYT's Global Fashion Blog Visits Eastern Market

The New York Times' "Intersection" video blog --  which captures fashion styles and the characters who wear them in neighborhoods around the world -- has stopped by Eastern Market.

Says the Times: "In the historic Eastern Market neighborhood of Detroit, local style is inspired by the industrial surroundings."

Ok.

Videographer Farhod Family shoots the market's sights and people, including Christina Gibbs, collections data base manager at the Detroit Institute of Arts (someone whose job must be intense during bankruptcy).

Gibbs says how she dresses depends on her mood. At the DIA, she tells Family, "We dress very office-like,

but there can be some eccentricities included in there."

Nic Notion -- who has a name right out of an Elmore Leonard novel -- describes his look as a combination of "classic gentleman," "90's skate-board style" and an "industrial look."

Lauren Stovall, a boutique owner, wearing a striking turquoise body suit, says her throwback glasses come from her father. She has cool gold shoes and says she "lives in the moment" with no fashion rules.
