Updated: Victor Martinez Undergoes Surgery; To Be Out 4-6 Weeks

Tuesday, 4:26 p.m. --  Good news. Victor Martinez's knee surgery was a success, the Detroit Free Press reports.  The paper reports he will be out 4-6 weeks and will be ready for the start of the season.

The team, and fans as well, were concerned that he might be out for considerably longer.

The Tigers first game is April 1 in Houston and the question is: Will Victor Martinez be suited up and ready to play?

Anthony Fenech of the Detroit Free Press reports that Martinez will undergo surgery on his left knee today in Pensacola, Fla., and the Tigers will find out the severity of his injury.

Fenech writes:

Martinez tore the medial meniscus in his left knee and, according to multiple medical experts on the subject, could miss anywhere from four weeks to 12 weeks with rehabilitation.
