Zumba Mexican Grill at 304 N. Main Street in Royal Oak has closed its doors, the company said on Facebook. Wednesday was its final day.

The restaurant is expected to reopen sometime in October under new ownership and under the  name Detroit Taco Company. The new joint will feature a mix of Zumba recipes and new ones as well, according to the posting on the Facebook page by Zumba owner Tim Castaneda.

Castaneda is expected to play a role in the new place, as well at at Rojo Mexican Bistro’s four Metro Detroit locations, according to The Detroit News.

"We hope to be closed for only a short time, and we promise we'll continue to bring you quality, fresh, fast Mexican food for years to come," he wrote in the Facebook posting.

He’s stepping down from role as restaurant owner because he wants to enjoy “less financial responsibility," he tells The News.

Melody Baetens writes that Detroit Taco Company is owned by Jeffrey Omtvedt, who also is the controller of Rojo for owner Dan Linnen. Rojo was part of the Andiamo Restaurant Group up until early 2014.

“Tim is going to be a culinary consultant to both concepts,” Omtvedt tells the paper. “We’re going to take some of the influences of Zumba, absolutely. Initially we’ll focus on a variety of street tacos that will be more focused on a street taco flare, we’ll continue to have (Zumba’s) bowl-rito option.”
