The Lark's Chef, John Sommerville, Finds a New Home in Farmington Hills

After more than three decades , owners Jim and Mary Lark decided last year to close The Lark restaurant, which the Free Press described as an iconic, European-style country inn.

Now, food critic Molly Abraham writes in Hour magazine that Lark chef, John Somerville, rides "the West Bloomfield restaurant’s reputation for excellence into the executive chef de cuisine post at Steven Lelli’s Inn on the Green in Farmington Hills."

The steak menu will continue – after all, the restaurant founded in Midtown Detroit in 1939 has always been known for its beef. But there’s no doubt Somerville will bring some of his own style to the handsome dining room, which adheres to a traditional look — in this case, complete with glittery chandeliers and velvet-draped windows.
