The 58th annual Most Holy Trinity Children's Christmas Party this Saturday in Detroit's Corktown will be different this year due to Covid.

Instead of a party, as in the past, families will be able to drive up from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to the church at 1050 Porter St., where volunteers will drop gift bags into trunks. The event is for Detroit children 5 to 10.

Gifts include coats, gloves, socks, toys, and pizza certificates.

"For many of these kids it's the only Christmas present they’ll get this year," says one of the event organizers, Vaughn Derderian, former owner of the Anchor Bar in Detroit. "Most of he parents don’t even open up the gift bag til Christmas."

Last year, the event was at the IBEW Hall at 1358 Abbott St. in Detroit.
