"We are going to open 'softly' with lunch service only starting this Thursday through Saturday," the owners announce on Facebook. "Next Monday, November 4, 2013 will be our first full day."

It's the brainchild of siblings the Elias and Naomi Khalil and a friend, chef Pilar Baron Hidalgo of Seville, Spain. Last fall they won won the second annual Hatch competition's top prize of $50,000, plus support services.

La Feria, which shares space with an art gallery at the corner of West Willis, adds the atmosphere of southern Spain to Midtown's expanding choices of restaurants, shops and other attractions.

Menu selections are expected to include salmorejo, chicken croquetas, montaditos with tomato and Spanish ham, and mushroom caps stuffed with a parsley-garlic sauce, according to a far-in-advance preview by Noelle Lothamer at Model D.

Although Spanish cuisine is typically meat-heavy, they plan to have options for everyone. Vegetarians should be delighted by dishes like the mushroom caps and tortilla de patatas.

The business recently received a long-awaited liquor license and occupancy permit.
